This had been a bad day all round. He was not used to such undisciplined behaviour from his women. He'd nearly had to beat his favourite wife, thanks to that blue-eyed she-wolf. It would have pained him greatly to mar Lika's beautiful skin, which was as soft and creamy as the richest Yak butter. No, he would not keep this new woman. She was too much hard work. What man wanted a woman who would rip his balls off rather than share his furs? Oh, he knew the type. His own sister had been a wildcat. The warlord she had married had sold her eventually for a flea-ridden camel, just to get rid of her. Turghan did not know were she was now, but the warlord had limped for the rest of his days. Turghan wasn't going to be maimed by his new purchase. He'd already decided to sell her to his brother, Temujih. He never had liked his brother. It was good that he lived many days travel away because there would have been much bloodshed had he been closer. Yes, this bad tempered vixen would serve his brother well. Perhaps she'd even kill him. Turghan threw back his head and laughed grimly. Lika entered the yurt bearing a cup of milk and some flat bread. "Here, my husband. This will soothe your temper." She handed him the cup and bread and then smoothed her cool hand over his brow. "Aaaah, you are a good wife, Lika." Turghan smiled down at the small woman and took her hand and kissed it. "What is the fair haired woman doing?" "I had put her to work helping to prepare the evening meal, but she was so unskilled I feared her poisoning us. So, I have her making a fruit platter. She surely cannot fail with that." Lika grimaced. "Although she is being a little rough with the grapes." Turghan patted his wife's hand. I shall sell her to my brother. Then she can poison him instead." "My husband, she is not a bad woman, just misguided." Lika smiled at her husband of many years. "Then she can be misguided with Temujih. I have not the patience to train such a wilful creature." He sighed heavily. "This is what happens when outlanders come into a tribe, nothing but trouble. I was foolish to have been taken in by her beauty." Lika squeezed his hand trying to comfort her troubled husband. "I shall leave you to rest now. Try not to worry so, I'm sure things will settle down. She is only one woman after all." Turghan barked out a laugh. "You are right my wife. I shall think on it no more." He watched her leave the yurt.. Yes, she was indeed wise. He took a sip of his milk. How much trouble could one woman bring? The end
